WaterAid

The project was started last October in Nicaragua, when WaterAid first brought the students and teachers together to talk about their school’s water and sanitation problems and propose solutions. By March 31, each of the three Nicaraguan schools had begun constructing and installing rainwater harvesting systems under the guidance of WaterAid's Program Officer, Danilo Laguna, and the supervision of local builders. To get ready for the new water and sanitation systems, the teachers and students have learned simple methods of disinfecting water, personal hygiene and how to protect their environment.
