About
On Friday, April 18, 2014, sixteen (16) Sherpas lost their lives in the single most tragic day in Everest history. The Sherpas were struck by an avalanche while securing fixed lines through the Khumbu Icefall, located between Everest Base Camp and Everest Camp One, in attempt to secure a safe passage for the teams of climbers from around the world that would follow.
Alpine Ascents International and The American Alpine Club have established foundations working in part to benefit the families of the Sherpas who tragically lost their lives on April 18. Please join me in supporting the work of these foundations to support Sherpa families in their time of loss.
