Boxers Supporting Unaccompanied Minors Fund
Boxers will be participating in Catholic Charities' annual Futbol con Corazón to support unaccompanied minors. Unaccompanied children come from all over the world, but the largest numbers arrive from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico. Children flee their countries to escape persecution, abandonment, exploitation, serious deprivation, violence in their communities, or to reunite with a caregiver, often after losing one at home. Some are victims of human trafficking. Some are alone, separated from family or orphaned. They all long for safety, care, family, and a place to call home. These children are now facing adversarial removal proceedings opposed by experienced government attorneys, with only about 32% represented by counsel. It is highly unlikely that an unrepresented child will prevail in immigration court, even if he or she has a bona fide claim for protection. A recent study found that represented children have a 73% success rate in immigration court, as compared to only 15% of unrepresented children. To respond justly and humanely to the unprecedented spike in the number of children who made the treacherous journey north in the past few years, Catholic Charities began offering free legal immigration services to these children and youth. They are working to find ways to protect the rights of vulnerable unaccompanied children by supporting their housing, education, mental health, medical, and legal needs within nurturing and safe environments. It is fundamentally important to safeguard their well-being.

1000 Mile Cycling Challenge - Japan - 2020 - Cancer Research Fund
Next year my friend (Sam Atter) and me (Hayden Stobbs) want to do something challenging for our 30th birthdays by pushing ourselves to the absolute limit. For the past year, we have been training to complete a 1000 mile cycling tour from Hiroshima to Tokyo in March 2020. As we only have 10 months to go, we thought this was the perfect time to try and raise some money for charity. To test ourselves before our trip to Japan, we will also be completing a smaller 250+ mile segment in the the lake district later this year. If for some reason this turns out to be too difficult for us, then we will adjust the mileage in Japan as necessary. The aim is to complete the challenge over 30 days so to do this, we are going to cycle 50 miles per day, 5 days a week, and spend the weekends resting. We will be recording as much footage as possible, with live blogs wherever we are able to do so. We will be starting from Hiroshima taking winding routes over various smaller islands and mountains before heading back to the mainland towards Tokyo. There is still a lot of planning to do! As of March 1st 2019 our training regime has began to ramp up! I (Hayden) will personally be putting in 1-2 hours per day on Zwift, with the aim to be out on the bike every other weekend for 6-8 hours. The charity we have chosen to raise money for is Cancer Research UK. Whether we like it or not Cancer touches all of our lives, so we thought we'd try and make a positive impact and help those in need a long the way. Many thanks! Sam A + Hayden S PS: Whatever we raise, Cisco will match so we can make an even bigger impact!

Marc Zimmer's WaterAid Colombia Fundraiser
Did you know that 844 million people across the globe don't have access to clean water? In May 2020 I’ll be traveling to Colombia with WaterAid, an international organization dedicated to bringing clean water, toilets and hygiene assistance to the poorest and most marginalized communities across the globe. After several days trekking to the ancient, Lost City of Tayrona, I’ll be visiting and volunteering with WaterAid in indigenous, Wayuu communities in La Guajira, Colombia. For the past 3 years I've served as a board member of Wateraid. I've seen first-hand how my time and money have directly made a life-giving difference in the health, social enablement, and upward enablement of so many people. Please consider making a donation to my page today. Gifts made will directly support the communities in Colombia I’ll be working with on my trip. The Indigenous Wayúu live in dispersed rural and marginalized communities with very limited access to services, where only 16% has access to water and a mere 4% to basic sanitation. Currently, it is estimated that 60% of the Wayúu population suffer from malnutrition and roughly one indigenous child under 5 has died of causes linked to malnutrition every week over the past 2 years. WaterAid is working to change this, and with your help, I’ll be making a real difference in the lives of many on my trip with WaterAid.
